Que pouvons nous dire des quelques milliers d\u2019exoplan\u00e8tes d\u00e9couvertes \u00e0 ce jour\u00a0? Une fraction d\u2019entre elles se situe dans\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencesetavenir.fr\/espace\/exploration\/c-est-quoi-une-planete-en-zone-habitable_34091\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">la zone habitable de leur \u00e9toile<\/a>. Concr\u00e8tement, il s\u2019agit de\u00a0l\u2019intervalle de distance \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9toile h\u00f4te o\u00f9 th\u00e9oriquement une plan\u00e8te recevrait une quantit\u00e9 suffisante d\u2019\u00e9nergie\u00a0pour que de l\u2019eau sous forme liquide puisse persister \u00e0 sa surface. Mais cette d\u00e9finition reste simpliste. Les conditions de maintien de l\u2019eau liquide sont fortement li\u00e9es \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9volution de l\u2019atmosph\u00e8re, cette couche de gaz qui enveloppe les astres et certaines plan\u00e8tes. Une atmosph\u00e8re est donc essentielle !<\/p>\n<p data-adtags-visited=\"true\"><strong>SYST\u00c8ME SOLAIRE.<\/strong>\u00a0Dans le syst\u00e8me solaire, trois plan\u00e8tes se situent dans la zone habitable du Soleil. Et d\u00e9j\u00e0, la Terre fait office de cas particulier\u00a0: elle seule poss\u00e8de une atmosph\u00e8re compatible avec la pr\u00e9sence d\u2019eau liquide sur son sol.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencesetavenir.fr\/espace\/venus-est-toujours-geologiquement-active_34635\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">V\u00e9nus, elle, poss\u00e8de une atmosph\u00e8re tr\u00e8s dense en gaz \u00e0 effet de serre<\/a>, sa temp\u00e9rature au sol avoisine les 450\u00b0C. Au contraire, sur Mars, l\u2019atmosph\u00e8re n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencesetavenir.fr\/espace\/systeme-solaire\/la-sonde-maven-filme-les-nuages-de-l-atmosphere-de-mars_107620\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u2018est gu\u00e8re plus compos\u00e9e presque que de\u00a0gaz carbonique<\/a>, puisqu\u2019elle s\u2019est en grande partie \u00e9chapp\u00e9e dans le milieu interstellaire dans sa jeunesse. On y observe par cons\u00e9quent des temp\u00e9ratures de 20\u00b0C le jour et -140\u00b0C la nuit. Or l\u2019atmosph\u00e8re et son \u00e9volution dans le temps sont des facteurs cl\u00e9s pour comprendre si une plan\u00e8te est belle est bien hospitali\u00e8re pour la vie.
